Following a tradition we started in 2018, the BVRT Users Association is organising the eighth BVRT Australia Day Bike Ride from Fernvale to Esk (44 km) to celebrate Australia Day on Sunday 26 January 2025. Unfortunately. due to a 235% increase in our insurance costs, we can no longer this event for free, but we are only charging what it cost us for insurance. Children are free.

This very scenic ride will start at the Fernvale Futures Visitors Centre in Fernvale and finish at Esk Station in Esk.

A subsidised shuttle service back to Fernvale from Esk will be available for you and your bike, commencing at 9.00 a.m @ $40 per rider and bike ($15 for children under 16 yrs of age).

Our traditional gourmet Australia Day BBQ brekkie roll catered by The Picnic Society will be available at Esk Station @ $12 (kids under 12 eat for free) for everyone finishing the ride.

Depending on numbers, there may be a bit of a wait for the shuttle back, so please be patient.

Start time will be 6.00 am in Fernvale to catch the cool of the morning.

Registration is essential.

Some sections of the rail trail are quite rough. Bike must be suitable for off-road cycling (eg. MTB/Gravel bike/Hybrid/ e-MTB).

Please bring a basic tool kit including puncture repair kit and spare inner tube (unless tubeless) and a basic first aid kit, including a snake bite bandage and know how to use it (plenty of YouTube videos).
