A mural consisting of 27 panels by local artist Susan McConnel telling the story of Fernvale back in the days of steam trains has been installed on the wall at the rear of the Fernvale Visitor Centre, facing onto the rail trail. The project was commissioned and funded by the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Users Association in partnership with the Queensland Government Regional Arts Development Fund Fund, Somerset Regional Council and GoFundMe donors. The murals cover the entire rear of the building.
